This is the whole moodboard of each page layout I enjoyed
These specific ones were where my type design inspiration came from.
Ready to learn about Vietnam?! Me too! So here's the process of Vietnam's Fact Book design
I really enjoy the minimum color usage of, with one color clearly being dominate.
I know my mind seems discombobulated, but this is how I layout ideas on to a page.
So when I first started designing, I wanted it to be very circular based because circles are a common pattern in Vietnam. Not necessarily full-filled circles, but circular based. But when I put them all together, it looked very... polka-a-dot-y.
During review, someone pointed out this spread specifically because they liked the difference in sizes between the circles. It gave it more life. So I wanted to run with that.
This page was kiiiiinda a mess. But I really liked the overlapping of the subtitles under the information. I liked the look of a full page a text, with a little pop of design as the subtitles.
This is another page that I personally liked. Just a spread full of text was very eye-catching, whether good or bad, eye-catching nonetheless.
I did all the title pages first because I wanted them to mimic the mailer designed before hand. I still had a lot of work to do.
I also didn't have any statistics yet, so I quick did a few sketches for ideas. I wanted the data to be circular still
So the next version I made the circles bigger, and added full color bleed and pictures. I thought this was more dynamic in design and kept the eye intrigued without getting sick of polka-dots hah!
However, the data still looked a little boring and the widows and orphans were still very real. So more work was to be done.
